Day 8
Today we were quite happy to leave San Francisco. Its a nice enough place but we cant stand the weather, its the end of August and neither of us has any warm clothing to wear so we were pleased to see the clear skies and temperature increase when we left the Bay. It only took 20 minutes before it reached the 80’s and after the two and a half hour drive it was 92 degrees in Groveland where we are staying tonight. The hotel is lovely, very quaint and our room is haunted. Apparently Lyle is in our room and doesn’t like women’s makeup left on the sideboard so obviously thats what we will be doing tonight when we go to bed. After we checked in we got straight back in the car and drove to Yosemite National Park which was nice but to be honest after about an hour we were getting a bit bored so we headed back to the hotel. The town is great very old and there is a great bar where we went for a few beers before dinner, in there we met Chuck and his friends playing liars. This is a game with 5 dice each and, well you guessed it both Lorna and myself where playing the game in no time. What a great night I lost big time and Lorna seemed to get the grasp of it very quickly. We just love these sort of bars, where you get involved with the locals. We had to leave at 8 for dinner which we had in the hotel, well this was just great our first and probably our last fine dinning experience, the food was great and it was helped down with a fine bottle of Pinot Noir. Tomorrow we have to drive through the National park again to get to where we are going so we may take some more pictures en route to Lone Pine just outside Death Valley.
